Cultural wealth and traditions.

The cultural wealth of the traditions of Ilhabela are very old. Baptized by Américo Vespúcio as the island of São Sebastião in 1502. as an allusion to the saint name of the day, preserve until now folclorical Bantú manifestations of African origin like the Congada and feast of Saint Benedict. A verbal tradition which describes the combat between the mouros in red outfits and Christian in blue.

The dramatização is done partly with diologues , songs and dances at the sound of primitive instruments at the villa public place. The juninas celebrations commemorates the saints of June: Pedro, António and João remembering the caipiras traditions with village square dances, many ilhéus and tourists dresses like country people with checkered shirts and narrow short trousers The women use artificial hair lock with straws villages hats.
Our carnival is made to mesure of the island which vibrates with the alegóric cars parade at the sound of wild batucada and percussion.
